New BARCODED British Stamps from 2021 onwards

These are the very latest barcoded stamps from Royal Mail which have been issued to replace the old style definitive stamps.

From late 2021 onwards the Royal Mail are phasing out the conventional definitive stamps commonly known as Machin stamps e.g. the everyday stamps with the large Queen's Head. These Machin decimal currency stamps were first introduced by The Royal Mail in 1970 and have continued to be valid for postal use ever since. The current Machin stamps range from 1p to £5 plus all of the non value indicated stamps e.g. 1st Class, 2nd Class etc. There are literally many hundreds of different stamps affected. All of these stamps will either need to be used or exchanged by 31st January 2023. The Royal Mail are introducing a 'Swap Out' scheme at the end of March 2022.

The GOOD NEWS is the all COMMEMORATIVE & CHRISTMAS Stamps (those with the pretty pictures) WILL REMAIN FULLY VALID to be used as postage as future issues of those will not have the new style barcodes. This will hopefully keep many long established British stamp collectors on board.
